قَالُوا۟ تَقَاسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُۥ وَأَهْلَهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَقُولَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهِۦ مَا شَهِدْنَا مَهْلِكَ أَهْلِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَصَـٰدِقُونَ qālū taqāsamū billāhi lanubayyitannahu wa-ahlahu thumma lanaqūlanna liwaliyyihi mā shahidnā mahlika ahlihi wa innā laṣādiqūn They said: "Let us swear by God that we will attack Saleh and his family at night, and later tell his heirs: 'We did not see his family destroyed, and we speak the truth.'"
50
وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًا وَمَكَرْنَا مَكْرًا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ wa makarū makran wa makarnā makran wahum lā yash`urūn They hatched up the plot; We also planned without their knowledge.
51
فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ مَكْرِهِمْ أَنَّا دَمَّرْنَـٰهُمْ وَقَوْمَهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ fanẓur kayfa kāna `āqibatu makrihim annā dammarnāhum waqawmahum ajma`īn Now see the end of their machinations: We destroyed them and their entire people.
52
فَتِلْكَ بُيُوتُهُمْ خَاوِيَةًۢ بِمَا ظَلَمُوٓا۟ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ fatilka buyūtuhum khāwiyatan bimā ẓalamū ۗ inna fī dhālika la-āyatan liqawmiy ya`lamūn So these their habitations lie deserted now because of their iniquities. Verily there is a sign in this for those who understand.
53
وَأَنجَيْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ يَتَّقُونَ wa-anjaynal ladhīna āmanū wakānū yattaqūn We deliver those who believe and take heed for themselves.
54
وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَتَأْتُونَ ٱلْفَـٰحِشَةَ وَأَنتُمْ تُبْصِرُونَ walūṭan idh qāla liqawmihi ata-tūnal fāḥishata wa-antum tubṣirūn (Remember) Lot, when he said to his people: "Why do you indulge in obscenities when you know (it is evil)?
55
أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ ٱلرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةً مِّن دُونِ ٱلنِّسَآءِ ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُونَ a-innakum lata-tūnar rijāla shahwatan min dūnin nisā-i ۚ bal antum qawmun tajhalūn You lust after men in place of women. You are indeed a stolid people."
56
فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓا۟ أَخْرِجُوٓا۟ ءَالَ لُوطٍ مِّن قَرْيَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ أُنَاسٌ يَتَطَهَّرُونَ famā kāna jawāba qawmihi illā an qālū akhrijū āla lūṭin min qaryatikum ۖ innahum unāsun yataṭahharūn His people had no answer except saying: "Expel the family of Lot from your city. They are a people who would (rather) be pure!"
57
فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرْنَـٰهَا مِنَ ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ fa-anjaynāhu wa-ahlahu illam-ra-atahu qaddarnāhā minal ghābirīn So We saved him and his family except his wife who was destined to stay behind.
58
وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ wa-amṭarnā `alayhim maṭarā ۖ fasā-a maṭarul mundharīn And We rained down on them a shower (of stones). How ruinous was the rain that fell on those who had been warned (but warned in vain)!
59
قُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ عِبَادِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱصْطَفَىٰٓ ۗ ءَآللَّهُ خَيْرٌ أَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ qulil ḥamdu lillāhi wasalāmun `alā `ibādihil ladhīnaṣ-ṭafā ۗ ālllāhu khayrun ammā yushrikūn Say: "All praise be to God, and peace on those of His creatures whom He has chosen." Is God better or those they associate with Him --
60
أَمَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَأَنزَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَنۢبَتْنَا بِهِۦ حَدَآئِقَ ذَاتَ بَهْجَةٍ مَّا كَانَ لَكُمْ أَن تُنۢبِتُوا۟ شَجَرَهَآ ۗ أَءِلَـٰهٌ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ يَعْدِلُونَ amman khalaqas samāwāti wal-arḍa wa-anzala lakum minas samā-i mā-an fa-anbatnā bihi ḥadā-iqa dhāta bahjatim mā kāna lakum an tunbitū shajarahā ۗ a-ilāhun ma`allāh ۚ bal hum qawmun ya`dilūn Who created the heavens and the earth, who sends down water from the sky for you, with which He causes graceful gardens to grow? It was not in your power to make trees germinate. Is there any other god along with God. In fact they are a people who turn away (from the truth).
61
أَمَّن جَعَلَ ٱلْأَرْضَ قَرَارًا وَجَعَلَ خِلَـٰلَهَآ أَنْهَـٰرًا وَجَعَلَ لَهَا رَوَٰسِىَ وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ حَاجِزًا ۗ أَءِلَـٰهٌ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ amman ja`alal-arḍa qarāran waja`ala khilālahā anhāran waja`ala lahā rawāsiya waja`ala baynal baḥrayni ḥājizā ۗ a-ilāhun ma`allāh ۚ bal aktharuhum lā ya`lamūn Who then made the earth a habitable place, and made the rivers (flow) in its valleys and dales, and placed upon it firm stabilisers, and kept a barrier between two bodies of water? Is there any other god along with God? In reality most of them do not know.
62
أَمَّن يُجِيبُ ٱلْمُضْطَرَّ إِذَا دَعَاهُ وَيَكْشِفُ ٱلسُّوٓءَ وَيَجْعَلُكُمْ خُلَفَآءَ ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ أَءِلَـٰهٌ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ amman yujībul muḍṭarra idhā da`āhu wayakshifus sū a wayaj`alukum khulafā-al-arḍ ۗ a-ilāhun ma`allāh ۚ qalīlan mā tadhakkarūn Who hears the cry of the anguished (soul) when it calls to Him, and relieves its suffering? And who made you trustees on the earth? Is there any other god along with God? How little it is that you reflect!
63
أَمَّن يَهْدِيكُمْ فِى ظُلُمَـٰتِ ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ وَمَن يُرْسِلُ ٱلرِّيَـٰحَ بُشْرًۢا بَيْنَ يَدَىْ رَحْمَتِهِۦٓ ۗ أَءِلَـٰهٌ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ تَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ amman yahdīkum fī ẓulumātil barri wal baḥri wa man yursilur riyāḥa bushran bayna yaday raḥmatih ۗ a-ilāhun ma`allāh ۚ ta`ālallāhu `ammā yushrikūn Who then really shows you the way in the darkness of the desert and the sea? And who sends breezes bringing news of His benevolence? Is there any other god along with God? He is far too exalted for what they associate with Him!
64
أَمَّن يَبْدَؤُا۟ ٱلْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥ وَمَن يَرْزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ أَءِلَـٰهٌ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ قُلْ هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ amman yabda-ul khalqa thumma yu`īduhu wa man yarzuqukum minas samā-i wal-arḍ ۗ a-ilāhun ma`allāh ۚ qul hātū burhānakum in kuntum ṣādiqīn Who creates first then reverts it? And who gives you provision from the heavens and the earth? Is there any other god along with God? Tell them: "Bring your proof, if you are truthful."
65
قُل لَّا يَعْلَمُ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلْغَيْبَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ ۚ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَيَّانَ يُبْعَثُونَ qul lā ya`lamu man fis samāwāti wal-arḍil ghayba illallāh ۚ wa mā yash`urūna ayyāna yub`athūn Say: "No one in the heavens and the earth has knowledge of the unknown except God, nor can they know when they will be raised again.
66
بَلِ ٱدَّٰرَكَ عِلْمُهُمْ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ مِّنْهَا ۖ بَلْ هُم مِّنْهَا عَمُونَ balid-dāraka `il-muhum fil-ākhirah ۚ bal hum fī shakkin minhā ۖ bal hum minhā `amūn Still less do they comprehend the life to come. In fact they are in doubt about it. Still more, they are blind to it."
67
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَءِذَا كُنَّا تُرَٰبًا وَءَابَآؤُنَآ أَئِنَّا لَمُخْرَجُونَ waqālal ladhīna kafarū a-idhā kunnā turāban wa-ābā-unā a-innā lamukhrajūn Those who do not believe, say: "When we and our fathers have turned to dust, how shall we be raised again?
68
لَقَدْ وُعِدْنَا هَـٰذَا نَحْنُ وَءَابَآؤُنَا مِن قَبْلُ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ laqad wu`idnā hādhā naḥnu wa-ābā-unā min qablu in hādhā illā asāṭīrul-awwalīn Indeed we and our fathers had been promised this before. It is nothing but the earlier people's lore."
69
قُلْ سِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ qul sīrū fil-arḍi fanẓurū kayfa kāna `āqibatul mujrimīn Say: "Travel in the land and see how (bad) was the end of sinners."
70
وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا تَكُن فِى ضَيْقٍ مِّمَّا يَمْكُرُونَ walā taḥzan `alayhim walā takun fī ḍayqin mimmā yamkurūn Do not grieve over them, and do not be distressed by what they contrive.
71
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ wayaqūlūna matā hādhal wa`du in kuntum ṣādiqīn Yet they say: "When will this promise come to pass? (Tell Us) if you speak the truth."
72
قُلْ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ رَدِفَ لَكُم بَعْضُ ٱلَّذِى تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ qul `asā an yakūna radifa lakum ba`ḍul ladhī tasta`jilūn Say: "Perhaps some of what you wish to hasten is right behind you."
73
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ wa inna rabbaka ladhū faḍlin `alan nāsi walākinna aktharahum lā yashkurūn Verily your Lord is gracious to men, though most men are ungrateful.
74
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ صُدُورُهُمْ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ wa inna rabbaka laya`lamu mā tukinnu ṣudūruhum wa mā yu`linūn Verily your Lord knows what lies hidden in their breasts and what they disclose.
75
وَمَا مِنْ غَآئِبَةٍ فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ إِلَّا فِى كِتَـٰبٍ مُّبِينٍ wa mā min ghā-ibatin fis samā-i wal-arḍi illā fī kitābin mubīn There is nothing of the hidden in the heavens and the earth that is not recorded in the luminous Book.
76
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ يَقُصُّ عَلَىٰ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ أَكْثَرَ ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ inna hādhal qur-āna yaquṣṣu `alā banī isrā-iyla aktharal ladhī hum fīhi yakhtalifūn Indeed this Qur'an explains to the children of Israel much of what they are at variance.
77
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ wa innahu lahudan waraḥmatun lil-mu-minīn It is a guidance and grace for those who believe.
78
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِى بَيْنَهُم بِحُكْمِهِۦ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ inna rabbaka yaqḍī baynahum biḥukmih ۚ wahuwal `azīzul `alīm Surely your Lord in His wisdom will decide between them. He is all-mighty and all-knowing.
79
فَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَى ٱلْحَقِّ ٱلْمُبِينِ fatawakkal `alallāh ۖ innaka `alal-ḥaqqil mubīn So you place your trust in God. Certainly you stand on positive truth.
80
إِنَّكَ لَا تُسْمِعُ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ وَلَا تُسْمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ ٱلدُّعَآءَ إِذَا وَلَّوْا۟ مُدْبِرِينَ innaka lā tusmi`ul mawtā walā tusmi`uṣ ṣummad du`ā-a idhā wallaw mudbirīn You cannot make the dead to listen, or the deaf to hear the call, when they have turned their backs,
81
وَمَآ أَنتَ بِهَـٰدِى ٱلْعُمْىِ عَن ضَلَـٰلَتِهِمْ ۖ إِن تُسْمِعُ إِلَّا مَن يُؤْمِنُ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا فَهُم مُّسْلِمُونَ wa mā anta bihādil `umyi `an ḍalālatihim ۖ in tusmi`u illā man yu-minu bi-āyātinā fahum muslimūn Nor can you lead the blind when they have gone astray. You can make none hear except those who believe in Our signs and have come to peace and submission.
82
وَإِذَا وَقَعَ ٱلْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَخْرَجْنَا لَهُمْ دَآبَّةً مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ تُكَلِّمُهُمْ أَنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ كَانُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا لَا يُوقِنُونَ wa idhā waqa`al qawlu `alayhim akhrajnā lahum dābbatan minal-arḍi tukallimuhum annan nāsa kānū bi-āyātinā lā yūqinūn When the sentence will have been passed against them, We shall bring forth beastly brutes from the earth who will torment them, for men certainly do not believe Our signs.
83
وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ فَوْجًا مِّمَّن يُكَذِّبُ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ wayawma naḥshuru min kulli ummatin fawjan mimman yukadhhibu bi-āyātinā fahum yūza`ūn The day We shall gather from every community a section of those who denied Our signs, and they will be brought (in separate groups),
84
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءُو قَالَ أَكَذَّبْتُم بِـَٔايَـٰتِى وَلَمْ تُحِيطُوا۟ بِهَا عِلْمًا أَمَّاذَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ḥattā idhā jā-ū qāla akadhhabtum bi-āyātī walam tuḥīṭū bihā `il-man ammādhā kuntum ta`malūn So that when they come (before the Lord) He will say: "Did you deny My signs without having understood them? Or what was it that you were doing?"
85
وَوَقَعَ ٱلْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِم بِمَا ظَلَمُوا۟ فَهُمْ لَا يَنطِقُونَ wawaqa`al qawlu `alayhim bimā ẓalamū fahum lā yanṭiqūn When the sentence will have been passed upon them for their wickedness, they will not be able to say a word.
86
أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا جَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِيَسْكُنُوا۟ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبْصِرًا ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ alam yaraw annā ja`alnal layla liyaskunū fīhi wan nahāra mubṣirā ۚ inna fī dhālika la-āyātin liqawmiy yu-minūn Do they not see that We made the night for them to rest, the day to make things clear? Indeed there are signs in this for people who believe.
87
وَيَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَفَزِعَ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ إِلَّا مَن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ وَكُلٌّ أَتَوْهُ دَٰخِرِينَ wayawma yunfakhu fiṣ ṣūri fafazi`a man fis samāwāti wa man fil-arḍi illā man shā-allāh ۚ wakullun atawhu dākhirīn The day the trumpet blast is sounded whoever is in the heavens and the earth will be terrified, save those whom God please, and all will appear before Him in abjectness.
88
وَتَرَى ٱلْجِبَالَ تَحْسَبُهَا جَامِدَةً وَهِىَ تَمُرُّ مَرَّ ٱلسَّحَابِ ۚ صُنْعَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَتْقَنَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَفْعَلُونَ wataral jibāla taḥsabuhā jāmidatan wahiya tamurru marras saḥāb ۚ ṣun`allāhil ladhī atqana kulla shay-ī ۚ innahu khabīrun bimā taf`alūn You will see the mountains and think they are firmly planted, but they will pass away like flying clouds: Artistry of God who perfected everything. He is indeed fully aware of what you do.
89
مَن جَآءَ بِٱلْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُۥ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهَا وَهُم مِّن فَزَعٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ ءَامِنُونَ man jā-a bil ḥasanati falahu khayrun minhā wahum min faza`iy yawma-idhin āminūn Whoever comes with good (deeds) will receive better than (what he had done), and be safe that day from terror.
90
وَمَن جَآءَ بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ فَكُبَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِى ٱلنَّارِ هَلْ تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ wa man jā-a bis sayyi-ati fakubbat wujūhuhum fin nāri hal tujzawna illā mā kuntum ta`malūn But whosoever comes with evil will be flung face forward into the Fire. Can you expect reward for any thing but what you do?
91
إِنَّمَآ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ رَبَّ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلْبَلْدَةِ ٱلَّذِى حَرَّمَهَا وَلَهُۥ كُلُّ شَىْءٍ ۖ وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ innamā umirtu an a`buda rabba hādhihil baldatil ladhī ḥarramahā walahu kullu shay-ī ۖ wa-umirtu an akūna minal muslimīn (Say): "I am commanded to worship the Lord of this land He has blessed, to whom all things belong; and I am commanded to be one of those who submit,
92
وَأَنْ أَتْلُوَا۟ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ ۖ فَمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدِى لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَقُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُنذِرِينَ wa-an atluwal qur-ān ۖ famanih-tadā fa-innamā yahtadī linafsih ۖ wa man ḍalla faqul innamā ana minal mundhirīn And to recite the Qur'an." Whoever comes to guidance does so for himself; as for him who stays astray, tell him: "I am only a warner."
93
وَقُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ سَيُرِيكُمْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ فَتَعْرِفُونَهَا ۚ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَـٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ waqulil ḥamdu lillāhi sayurīkum āyātihi fata`rifūnahā ۚ wa mā rabbuka bighāfilin `ammā ta`malūn Say: "All praise be to God. He will show you His signs, and you will recognise them. Your Lord is not heedless of what you do."
