1
allāhumma innī ṣallaytu waraka`tu wasajadt
O Allah, I have prayed, bowed, and prostrated
2
laka waḥdaka lā sharīka lak
to You alone, Who has no partner
3
li-annaṣ ṣalāta war rukū`a was sujūd
Because prayer, bowing, and prostration
4
lā takūnu illā lak
cannot be except for You
5
li-annaka antallāhu lā ilāha illā ant
Because You are Allah, there is no god but You
6
allāhumma ṣalli `alā muḥammadin wa-āli muḥammad
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad
7
wa-abligh-hum `annī afḍalas salāmi wat taḥiyyah
And convey to them from me the best of greetings and salutations
8
war-dud `alayya minhumus salām
And return to me their greetings
9
allāhumma wahātānir rak`atān
O Allah, these two units of prayer
10
hadiyyatun minnī ilā mawlāy
are a gift from me to my master
11
al ḥusaynibni `aliyyi `alayhimas salām
Al-Husayn ibn Ali, peace be upon them both
12
allāhumma ṣalli `alā muḥammadin wa`alayh
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon him
13
wataqabbal minnī wa-jur-nī `alā dhālik
And accept it from me and reward me for that
14
bi-afḍali amalī warajā-ī fīk
With the best of my hopes and aspirations in You
15
wafī waliyyika yā waliyyal mu-minīn
And in Your representative, O Guardian of the believers
Then, move to the side of the Imam’s feet, stop at the place of the head of `Ali ibn al-Husayn ['a] and say the following words:
16
as salāmu `alayka yabna rasūlillāh
Peace be upon you, O son of the Messenger of Allah
17
as salāmu `alayka yabna nabiyyillāh
Peace be upon you, O son of the Prophet of Allah
18
as salāmu `alayka yabna amīril mu-minīn
Peace be upon you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful
19
as salāmu `alayka yabnal ḥusaynish shahīd
Peace be upon you, O son of Husayn the Martyr
20
as salāmu `alayka ayyuhash shahīd
Peace be upon you, O Martyr
21
as salāmu `alayka ayyuhal maẓlūmu wabnul maẓlūm
Peace be upon you, O oppressed one and son of the oppressed one
22
la`anallāhu ummatan qatalatk
May Allah curse the nation that killed you
23
wala`anallāhu ummatan ẓalamatk
And may Allah curse the nation that oppressed you
24
wala`anallāhu ummatan sami`at bidhālika faraḍiyat bih
And may Allah curse the nation that heard about it and was pleased with it
You should then throw yourself on the tomb, kiss it, and say the following words:
25
as salāmu `alayka yā waliyyallāhi wabna waliyyih
Peace be upon you, O friend of Allah and son of His friend
26
laqad `aẓumatil muṣībah
Indeed, the calamity is great
27
wajallatir raziyyatu bika `alaynā
And the tragedy concerning you has affected us severely
28
wa`alā jamī`il muslimīn
And all Muslims
29
fala`anallāhu ummatan qatalatk
So may Allah curse the nation that killed you
30
wa-abra-u ilallāhi wa-ilayka minhum
And I disassociate myself before Allah and before you from them
