بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allāhumma ṣalli `alā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammad
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad
1
اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَيَجَانِ الْحِرْصِ
allāhumma innī a`ūdhu bika min hayajānil ḥir-ṣ
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the surge of greed
2
وَ سَوْرَةِ الْغَضَبِ وَ غَلَبَةِ الْحَسَدِ وَ ضَعْفِ الصَّبْرِ
wa sawratil ghaḍabi wa ghalabatil ḥasadi wa ḍa`fiṣ ṣabr
And from the outburst of anger, the dominance of envy, and the weakness of patience
3
وَ قِلَّةِ الْقَنَاعَةِ وَ شَكَاسَةِ الْخُلْقِ
wa qillatil qanā`ati wa shakāsatil khulq
And from lack of contentment, and ill-temperament
4
وَ إِلْحَاحِ الشَّهْوَةِ وَ مَلَكَةِ الْحَمِيَّةِ
wa ilḥāḥish shahwati wa malakatil ḥamiyyah
And from the persistence of lust, and the control of zealotry
5
وَ مُتَابَعَةِ الْهَوَى وَ مُخَالَفَةِ الْهُدَى
wa mutāba`atil hawā wa mukhālafatil hudā
And from following desires, and opposing guidance
6
وَ سِنَةِ الْغَفْلَةِ وَ تَعَاطِيْ الْكُلْفَةِ
wa sinatil ghaflati wa ta`āṭil kulfah
And from the slumber of negligence, and undertaking what is burdensome
7
وَ إِيثَارِ الْبَاطِلِ عَلَى الْحَقِّ وَ الْإِصْرَارِ عَلَى الْمَأْثَمِ
wa īthāril bāṭili `alal ḥaqqi wal iṣrāri `alal ma-tham
And from preferring falsehood over truth, and persisting in sin
8
وَ اسْتِصْغَارِ الْمَعْصِيَةِ وَ اسْتِكْبَارِ الطَّاعَةِ
wastiṣghāril ma`ṣiyati wastikbāriṭ ṭā`ah
And from belittling disobedience, and considering acts of obedience as too great
9
وَ مُبَاهَاةِ الْمُكْثِرِينَ وَ الْإِزْرَاءِ بِالْمُقِلِّينَ
wa mubāhātil mukthirīna wal izrā-i bil muqillīn
And from boasting to the wealthy, and looking down upon the poor
10
وَ سُوءِ الْوِلَايَةِ لِمَنْ تَحْتَ أَيْدِيْنَا
wa sū-il wilāyati liman taḥta aydīnā
And from mismanaging those under our authority
11
وَ تَرْكِ الشُّكْرِ لِمَنِ اصْطَنَعَ الْعَارِفَةَ عِنْدَنَا
wa tar-kish shukri limaniṣṭana`al `ārifata `indanā
And from neglecting to thank those who do good to us
12
أَوْ أَنْ نَعْضُدَ ظَالِمًا أَوْ نَخْذُلَ مَلْهُوفًا
aw an na`ḍuda ẓāliman aw nakhdhula malhūfā
Or that we support an oppressor, or abandon one in distress
13
أَوْ نَرُومَ مَا لَيْسَ لَنَا بِحَقٍّ
aw narūma mā laysa lanā biḥaqq
Or that we seek what we have no right to
14
أَوْ نَقُولَ فِيْ الْعِلْمِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ
aw naqūla fil `ilmi bighayri `ilm
Or that we speak about knowledge without having knowledge
15
وَ نَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ نَنْطَوِيَ عَلَى غِشِّ أَحَدٍ
wa na`ūdhu bika an nanṭawiya `alā ghishhi aḥad
And we seek refuge in You from harboring deceit toward anyone
16
وَ أَنْ نُعْجِبَ بِأَعْمَالِنَا وَ نَمُدَّ فِيْ آمَالِنَا
wa an nu`jiba bi-a`mālinā wa namudda fī-āmālinā
And from being impressed with our deeds, and extending our false hopes
17
وَ نَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ سُوءِ السَّرِيرَةِ وَ احْتِقَارِ الصَّغِيرَةِ
wa na`ūdhu bika min sū-is sarīrati waḥtiqāriṣ ṣaghīrah
And we seek refuge in You from evil intentions, and belittling minor sins
18
وَ أَنْ يَسْتَحْوِذَ عَلَيْنَا الشَّيْطَانُ
wa an yastaḥwidha `alaynash shayṭān
And from Satan gaining control over us
19
أَوْ يَنْكُبَنَا الزَّمَانُ أَوْ يَتَهَضَّمَنَا السُّلْطَانُ
aw yankubanaz zamānu aw yatahaḍḍamanas sulṭān
Or time afflicting us, or the ruler oppressing us
20
وَ نَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ تَنَاوُلِ الْإِسْرَافِ وَ مِنْ فِقْدَانِ الْكَفَافِ
wa na`ūdhu bika min tanāwulil isrāfi wa min fiqdānil kafāf
And we seek refuge in You from engaging in extravagance, and from lacking basic necessities
21
وَ نَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَمَاتَةِ الْأَعْدَاءِ وَ مِنَ الْفَقْرِ إِلَى الْأَكْفَاءِ
wa na`ūdhu bika min shamātatil a`dā-i wa minal faqri ilal akfā
And we seek refuge in You from the gloating of enemies, and from needing to ask our equals
22
وَ مِنْ مَعِيشَةٍ فِيْ شِدَّةٍ وَ مِيتَةٍ عَلَى غَيْرِ عُدَّةٍ
wa min ma`īshatin fī shiddatin wa mītatin `alā ghayri `uddah
And from a difficult life, and from death without preparation
23
وَ نَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْحَسْرَةِ الْعُظْمَى
wa na`ūdhu bika minal ḥasratil `uẓmā
And we seek refuge in You from the greatest regret
24
وَ الْمُصِيبَةِ الْكُبْرَى وَ أَشْقَى الشَّقَاءِ وَ سُوءِ الْمَابِ
wal muṣībatil kubrā wa ashqash shaqā-i wa sū-il māb
And the greatest calamity, and the worst misery, and the evil end
25
وَ حِرْمَانِ الثَّوَابِ وَ حُلُوْلِ الْعِقَابِ
wa ḥir-mānith thawābi wa ḥulūlil `iqāb
And the deprivation of reward, and the descent of punishment
26
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ
allāhumma ṣalli `alā muḥammadin wa-ālih
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and his family
27
وَ أَعِذْنِيْ مِنْ كُلِّ ذٰلِكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ
wa a`idhnī min kulli dhālika biraḥmatik
And protect me from all of that by Your mercy
28
وَ جَمِيعَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ
wa jamī`al mu-minīna wal mu-mināt
And all believing men and believing women
29
يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
yā ar-ḥamar rāḥimīn
O Most Merciful of those who show mercy
