بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allāhumma ṣalli `alā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammad
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad
1
اَللّٰهُمَّ يَا مَنْ دَلَعَ لِسَانَ الصَّبَاحِ بِنُطْقِ تَبَلُّجِهِ
allāhumma yā man dala`a lisānaṣ ṣabāḥi binuṭqi taballujih
O Allah, Who unfurls the tongue of morning with its brilliant speech
2
وَسَرَّحَ قِطَعَ اللَّيْلِ الْمُظْلِمِ بِغَيَاهِبِ تَلَجْلُجِهِ
wasarraḥa qiṭa`al laylil muẓlimi bighayāhibi talajlujih
And sends forth the fragments of dark night with its gloomy veils
3
وَأَتْقَنَ صُنْعَ الْفَلَكِ الدَّوَّارِ فِيْ مَقَادِيرِ تَبَرُّجِهِ
wa-atqana ṣun`al falakid dawwāri fī maqādīri tabarrujih
And perfects the making of the revolving celestial sphere in the measures of its adornment
4
وَشَعْشَعَ ضِيَاءَ الشَّمْسِ بِنُوْرِ تَأَجُّجِهِ
washa`sha`a ḍiyā-ash shamsi binūri ta-ajjujih
And brightens the light of the sun with the radiance of its blazing
5
يَا مَنْ دَلَّ عَلٰى ذَاتِهِ بِذَاتِهِ
yā man dalla `alā dhātihi bidhātih
O You Who proves Your existence through Your own essence
6
وَتَنَزَّهَ عَنْ مُجَانَسَةِ مَخْلُوقَاتِهِ
watanazzaha `an mujānasati makhlūqātih
And is above any resemblance to Your creation
7
وَجَلَّ عَنْ مُلائَمَةِ كَيْفِيَّاتِهِ
wajalla `an mulā-amati kayfiyyātih
And is exalted above any description of Your qualities
8
يَا مَنْ قَرُبَ مِنْ خَطَرَاتِ الظُّنُونِ
yā man qaruba min khaṭarātiẓ ẓunūn
O You Who is closer than the thoughts of speculation
9
وَبَعُدَ عَنْ لَحَظَاتِ الْعُيُونِ
waba`uda `an laḥaẓātil `uyūn
Yet far beyond the glances of eyes
10
وَعَلِمَ بِمَا كَانَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَكُونَ
wa`alima bimā kāna qabla an yakūn
And knows what was before it came to be
11
يَا مَنْ أَرْقَدَنِيْ فِيْ مِهَادِ أَمْنِهِ وَأَمَانِهِ
yā man ar-qadanī fī mihādi amnihi wa-amānih
O You Who placed me to sleep in the cradle of Your security and protection
12
وَأَيْقَظَنِيْ إِلٰى مَا مَنَحَنِيْ بِهِ مِنْ مِنَنِهِ وَإِحْسَانِهِ
wa-ayqaẓanī ilā mā manaḥanī bihi min minanihi wa-iḥsānih
And awakened me to what You have bestowed upon me from Your favors and kindness
13
وَكَفَّ أَكُفَّ السُّوءِ عَنِّيْ بِيَدِهِ وَسُلْطَانِهِ
wakaffa akuffas sū-i `annī biyadihi wasulṭānih
And kept away from me the hands of evil through Your power and authority
14
صَلِّ اللَّهُمَّ عَلَى الدَّلِيلِ إِلَيْكَ فِيْ اللَّيْلِ الْأَلْيَلِ
ṣallillāhumma `alad dalīli ilayka fil laylil alyal
O Allah, send blessings upon the guide towards You in the darkest night
15
وَالْمَاسِكِ مِنْ أَسْبَابِكَ بِحَبْلِ الشَّرَفِ الْأَطْوَلِ
walmāsiki min asbābika biḥablish sharafil aṭwal
And the one who holds fast to Your means with the rope of the highest honor
16
وَالنَّاصِعِ الْحَسَبِ فِيْ ذِرْوَةِ الْكَاهِلِ الْأَعْبَلِ
wan nāṣi`il ḥasabi fī dhir-watil kāhilil a`bal
And the one of pure lineage in the highest summit of nobility
17
وَالثَّابِتِ الْقَدَمِ عَلٰى زَحَالِيفِهَا فِيْ الزَّمَنِ الْأَوَّلِ
wath thābitil qadami `alā zaḥālīfihā fiz zamanil awwal
And the one of firm foothold on its slippery places in the earliest times
18
وَعَلٰى آلِهِ الْأَخْيَارِ الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ الْأَبْرَارِ
wa`alā-ālihil akhyāril muṣṭafaynal abrār
And upon his righteous, chosen, and pious family
19
وَافْتَحِ اللَّهُمَّ لَنَا مَصَارِيْعَ الصَّبَاحِ
waftaḥillāhumma lanā maṣārī`aṣ ṣabāḥ
O Allah, open for us the gates of morning
20
بِمَفَاتِيحِ الرَّحْمَةِ وَالْفَلَاحِ
bimafātīḥir raḥmati walfalāḥ
With the keys of mercy and success
21
وَأَلْبِسْنِيْ اللَّهُمَّ مِنْ أَفْضَلِ خِلَعِ الْهِدَايَةِ وَالصَّلَاحِ
wa-albisnillāhumma min afḍali khila`il hidāyati waṣ ṣalāḥ
O Allah, clothe me with the best robes of guidance and righteousness
22
وَأَغْرِسِ اللَّهُمَّ بِعَظَمَتِكَ فِيْ شِرْبِ جَنَانِيْ يَنَابِيعَ الْخُشُوعِ
wa-aghrisillāhumma bi`aẓamatika fī shir-bi janānī yanābī`al khushū`
O Allah, plant in the core of my heart, by Your greatness, the springs of humility
23
وَأَجْرِ اللَّهُمَّ لِهَيْبَتِكَ مِنْ آمَاقِيْ زَفَرَاتِ الدُّمُوعِ
wa-ajrillāhumma lihaybatika min-āmāqī zafarātid dumū`
O Allah, cause tears to flow from my eyes out of awe for You
24
وَأَدِّبِ اللَّهُمَّ نَزَقَ الْخُرْقِ مِنِّي بِأَزِمَّةِ الْقُنُوعِ
wa-addibillāhumma nazaqal khur-qi minnī bi-azimmatil qunū`
O Allah, discipline my reckless foolishness with the reins of contentment
25
إِلٰهِيْ إِنْ لَمْ تَبْتَدِئْنِيْ الرَّحْمَةُ مِنْكَ بِحُسْنِ التَّوْفِيقِ
ilāhī in lam tabtadi-nir raḥmatu minka biḥusnit tawfīq
My God, if You do not begin with mercy from You by granting good guidance
26
فَمَنِ السَّالِكُ بِىْ إِلَيْكَ فِيْ وَاضِحِ الطَّرِيقِ
famanis sāliku bī ilayka fī wāḍiḥiṭ ṭarīq
Then who will lead me to You on the clear path?
27
وَإِنْ أَسْلَمَتْنِيْ أَنَاتُكَ لِقَائِدِ الْأَمَلِ وَالْمُنَىٰ
wa-in aslamatnī anātuka liqā-idil amali walmunā
And if Your patience leaves me to the leader of hope and desire
28
فَمَنِ الْمُقِيلُ عَثَرَاتِيْ مِنْ كَبَوَاتِ الْهَوٰى
famanil muqīlu `atharātī min kabawātil hawā
Then who will help me up from the stumbles of passion?
29
وَإِنْ خَذَلَنِيْ نَصْرُكَ عِنْدَ مُحَارَبَةِ النَّفْسِ وَالشَّيْطَانِ
wa-in khadhalanī naṣruka `inda muḥārabatin nafsi wash shayṭān
And if Your help abandons me in the battle against the self and Satan
30
فَقَدْ وَكَلَنِيْ خِذْلاَنُكَ إِلٰى حَيْثُ النَّصَبِ وَالْحِرْمَانِ
faqad wakalanī khidhlānuka ilā ḥaythun naṣabi walḥir-mān
Then Your abandonment has left me to fatigue and deprivation
31
إِلٰهِيْ أَتَرَانِيْ مَا أَتَيْتُكَ إِلَّا مِنْ حَيْثُ الْآمَالِ
ilāhī atarānī mā ataytuka illā min ḥaythul-āmāl
My God, do You see that I have come to You only through the gate of hope?
32
أَمْ عَلِقْتُ بِأَطْرَافِ حِبَالِكَ إِلَّا حِيْنَ بَاعَدَتْنِيْ ذُنُوبِىْ عَنْ دَارِ الْوِصَالِ
am `aliqtu bi-aṭrāfi ḥibālika illā ḥīna bā`adatnī dhunūbī `an dāril wiṣāl
Or have I clung to the ends of Your ropes only when my sins have distanced me from the house of union?
33
فَبِئْسَ الْمَطِيَّةُ الَّتِيْ امْتَطَتْ نَفْسِيْ مِنْ هَوَاهَا
fabi-sal maṭiyyatul latimtaṭat nafsī min hawāhā
How wretched is the mount that my soul has ridden in its desires!
34
فَوَاهًا لَهَا لِمَا سَوَّلَتْ لَهَا ظُنُونُهَا وَمُنَاهَا
fawāhan lahā limā sawwalat lahā ẓunūnuhā wamunāhā
Woe to it for what its thoughts and wishes have enticed it to do!
35
وَتَبًّا لَهَا لِجُرْأَتِهَا عَلٰى سَيِّدِهَا وَمَوْلاَهَا
watabban lahā lijur-atihā `alā sayyidihā wamawlāhā
And destruction to it for its boldness against its Master and Lord!
36
إِلٰهِيْ قَرَعْتُ بَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ بِيَدِ رَجَائِي
ilāhī qara`tu bāba raḥmatika biyadi rajā-ī
My God, I have knocked at the door of Your mercy with the hand of my hope
37
وَهَرَبْتُ إِلَيْكَ لَاٰجِئًا مِنْ فَرْطِ أَهْوَائِي
waharabtu ilayka lāji-an min far-ṭi ahwā-ī
And I have fled to You, seeking refuge from the excess of my desires
38
وَعَلَّقْتُ بِأَطْرَافِ حِبَالِكَ أَنَامِلَ وَلَاٰئِي
wa`allaqtu bi-aṭrāfi ḥibālika anāmila walā-ī
And I have attached the fingers of my loyalty to the ends of Your ropes
39
فَاصْفَحِ اللَّهُمَّ عَمَّا كُنْتُ أَجْرَمْتُهُ مِنْ زَلَلِيْ وَخَطَائِي
faṣfaḥillāhumma `ammā kuntu ajramtuhu min zalalī wakhaṭā-ī
So, O Allah, pardon what I have committed of errors and mistakes
40
وَأَقِلْنِيْ مِنْ صَرْعَةِ رِدَائِي
wa-aqilnī min ṣar-`ati ridā-ī
And lift me from the fall of my disgrace
41
فَإِنَّكَ سَيِّدِيْ وَمَوْلَايَ وَمُعْتَمَدِيْ وَرَجَائِي
fa-innaka sayyidī wamawlāya wamu`tamadī warajā-ī
For You are my Master, my Lord, my Support, and my Hope
42
وَأَنْتَ غَايَةُ مَطْلُوبِىْ وَمُنَايَ فِيْ مُنْقَلَبِىْ وَمَثْوَايَ
wa-anta ghāyatu maṭlūbī wamunāya fī munqalabī wamathwāy
And You are the Ultimate Goal of my quest and desire in my return and my resting place
43
إِلٰهِيْ كَيْفَ تَطْرُدُ مِسْكِينًا الْتَجَأَ إِلَيْكَ مِنَ الذُّنُوْبِ هَارِبًا
ilāhī kayfa taṭrudu miskīnanil taja-a ilayka minadh dhunūbi hāribā
My God, how could You reject a poor one who has fled to You from sins?
44
أَمْ كَيْفَ تُخَيِّبُ مُسْتَرْشِدًا قَصَدَ إِلٰى جَنَابِكَ سَاعِيًا
am kayfa tukhayyibu mustar-shidan qaṣada ilā janābika sā`iyā
Or how could You disappoint one seeking guidance who has hastened to Your threshold?
45
أَمْ كَيْفَ تَرُدُّ ظَمْآنًا وَرَدَ إِلٰى حِيَاضِكَ شَارِبًا
am kayfa taruddu ẓam-ānan warada ilā ḥiyāḍika shāribā
Or how could You turn away a thirsty one who has come to Your fountains to drink?
46
كَلَّا وَحِيَاضُكَ مُتْرَعَةٌ فِيْ ضَنْكِ الْمُحُوْلِ
kallā waḥiyāḍuka mutra`atun fī ḍankil muḥūl
Never! For Your fountains are full even in times of drought
47
وَبَابُكَ مَفْتُوْحٌ لِلطَّلَبِ وَالْوُغُوْلِ
wabābuka maftūḥun liṭṭalabi walwughūl
And Your door is open for seeking and entering
48
وَأَنْتَ غَايَةُ الْمَسْؤُوْلِ وَنِهَايَةُ الْمَأْمُوْلِ
wa-anta ghāyatul mas-ūli wanihāyatul ma-mūl
And You are the Ultimate Goal of all requests and the Final End of all hopes
49
إِلٰهِيْ هَذِهِ أَزِمَّةُ نَفْسِيْ عَقَلْتُهَا بِعِقَالِ مَشِيَّتِكَ
ilāhī hadhihi azimmatu nafsī `aqaltuhā bi`iqāli mashiyyatik
My God, here are the reins of my soul which I have bound with the halter of Your will
50
وَهٰذِهِ أَعْبَاءُ ذُنُوبِىْ دَرَأْتُهَا بِعَفْوِكَ وَرَحْمَتِكَ
wahādhihi a`bā-u dhunūbī dara-tuhā bi`afwika waraḥmatik
And here are the burdens of my sins which I have warded off with Your pardon and mercy
51
وَهٰذِهِ أَهْوَائِيَ الْمُضِلَّةُ وَكَلْتُهَا إِلٰى جَنَابِ لُطْفِكَ وَرَأْفَتِكَ
wahādhihi ahwā-iyal muḍillatu wakaltuhā ilā janābi luṭfika wara-fatik
And here are my misleading desires which I have entrusted to the threshold of Your kindness and compassion
52
فَاجْعَلِ اللَّهُمَّ صَبَاحِيْ هٰذَا نَازِلًا عَلَيَّ بِضِيَاءِ الْهُدىٰ
faj`alillāhumma ṣabāḥī hādhā nāzilan `alayya biḍiyā-il hudā
O Allah, make this morning of mine descend upon me with the light of guidance
53
وَبِالسَّلامَةِ فِيْ الدِّينِ وَالدُّنْيَا
wabissalāmati fid dīni wad dunyā
And with safety in religion and worldly life
54
وَمَسَائِي جُنَّةً مِنْ كَيْدِ الْعِدَىٰ
wamasā-ī junnatan min kaydil `idā
And make my evening a shield from the plots of enemies
55
وَوِقَايَةً مِنْ مُرْدِيَاتِ الْهَوَىٰ
wawiqāyatan min mur-diyātil hawā
And a protection from the destructive passions
56
إِنَّكَ قَادِرٌ عَلٰى مَا تَشَاءُ
innaka qādirun `alā mā tashā
Surely You have power over what You will
57
تُؤْتِيْ الْمُلْكَ مَنْ تَشَاءُ
tu-til mulka man tashā
You give sovereignty to whom You will
58
وَتَنْزِعُ الْمُلْكَ مِمَّنْ تَشَاءُ
watanzi`ul mulka mimman tashā
And You take away sovereignty from whom You will
59
وَتُعِزُّ مَنْ تَشَاءُ
watu`izzu man tashā
You exalt whom You will
60
وَتُذِلُّ مَنْ تَشَاءُ
watudhillu man tashā
And You abase whom You will
61
بِيَدِكَ الْخَيْرُ
biyadikal khayr
In Your hand is all good
62
إِنَّكَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
innaka `alā kulli shay-in qadīr
Indeed, You have power over all things
63
تُولِجُ اللَّيْلَ فِيْ النَّهَارِ
tūlijul layla fin nahār
You cause the night to enter into the day
64
وَتُولِجُ النَّهَارَ فِيْ اللَّيْلِ
watūlijun nahāra fil layl
And You cause the day to enter into the night
65
وَتُخْرِجُ الْحَيَّ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ
watukhrijul ḥayya minal mayyit
And You bring forth the living from the dead
66
وَتُخْرِجُ الْمَيِّتَ مِنَ الْحَيِّ
watukhrijul mayyita minal ḥayy
And You bring forth the dead from the living
67
وَتَرْزُقُ مَنْ تَشَاءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ
watar-zuqu man tashā-u bighayri ḥisāb
And You give provision to whom You will without account
68
لَاإِلٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
la-ilāha illā ant
There is no god but You
69
سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ
subḥānakallāhumma wabiḥamdik
Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You
70
مَنْ ذَا يَعْرِفُ قَدْرَكَ فَلَا يَخَافُكَ
man dhā ya`rifu qadraka falā yakhāfuk
Who is there that knows Your worth and does not fear You?
71
وَمَنْ ذَا يَعْلَمُ مَا أَنْتَ فَلَا يَهَابُكَ
waman dhā ya`lamu mā anta falā yahābuk
And who is there that knows what You are and does not stand in awe of You?
72
أَلَّفْتَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ الْفِرَقَ
allafta biqudratikal firaq
You have united the diverse factions by Your power
73
وَفَلَقْتَ بِلُطْفِكَ الْفَلَقَ
wafalaqta biluṭfikal falaq
And You have split the dawn with Your subtlety
74
وَأَنَرْتَ بِكَرَمِكَ دَيَاجِيَ الْغَسَقِ
wa-anar-ta bikaramika dayājiyal ghasaq
And You have illuminated the darkness of twilight with Your generosity
75
وَأَنْهَرْتَ الْمِيَاهَ مِنَ الصُّمِّ الصَّيَاخِيدِ عَذْبًا وَأُجَاجًا
wa-anhar-tal miyāha minaṣ ṣummiṣ ṣayākhīdi `adhban wa-ujājā
And You have made waters flow from solid rocks, both sweet and bitter
76
وَأَنْزَلْتَ مِنَ الْمُعْصِرَاتِ مَاءً ثَجَّاجًا
wa-anzalta minal mu`ṣirāti mā-an thajjājā
And You have sent down from rain clouds abundant water
77
وَجَعَلْتَ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ لِلْبَرِيَّةِ سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا
waja`altash shamsa walqamara lilbariyyati sirājan wahhājā
And You have made the sun and moon a blazing lamp for creation
78
مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ تُمَارِسَ فِيْمَا ابْتَدَأْتَ بِهِ لُغُوبًا وَلَا عِلاجًا
min ghayri an tumārisa fīmabtada-ta bihi lughūban walā `ilājā
Without experiencing any fatigue or difficulty in what You initiated
79
فَيَا مَنْ تَوَحَّدَ بِالْعِزِّ وَالْبَقَاءِ
fayā man tawaḥḥada bil `izzi walbaqā
O You Who is unique in glory and permanence
80
وَقَهَرَ عِبَادَهُ بِالْمَوْتِ وَالْفَنَاءِ
waqahara `ibādahu bil mawti walfanā
And Who has subjected His servants to death and annihilation
81
صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ الْأَتْقِيَاءِ
ṣalli `alā muḥammadin wa ālihil atqiyā
Send blessings upon Muhammad and his pious family
82
وَاسْمَعْ نِدَائِي وَاسْتَجِبْ دُعَائِي
wasma` nidā-ī wastajib du`ā-ī
And hear my call and answer my prayer
83
وَحَقِّقْ بِفَضْلِكَ أَمَلِيْ وَرَجَائِي
waḥaqqiq bifaḍlika amalī warajā-ī
And fulfill, by Your grace, my hope and expectation
84
يَا خَيْرَ مَنْ دُعِيَ لِكَشْفِ الضُّرِّ
yā khayra man du`iya likashfiḍ ḍurr
O Best of those who are called to remove harm
85
وَالْمَأْمُولِ لِكُلِّ عُسْرٍ وَيُسْرٍ
walma-mūli likulli `usrin wayusr
And the One hoped for in every difficulty and ease
86
بِكَ أَنْزَلْتُ حَاجَتِيْ فَلَا تَرُدَّنِيْ مِنْ سَنِيِّ مَوَاهِبِكَ خَائِبًا
bika anzaltu ḥājatī falā taruddanī min saniyyi mawāhibika khā-ibā
To You I have brought my need, so do not turn me away disappointed from Your lofty gifts
87
يَا كَرِيمُ يَا كَرِيمُ يَا كَرِيمُ
yā karīmu yā karīmu yā karīm
O Generous, O Generous, O Generous
88
بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
biraḥmatika yā ar-ḥamar rāḥimīn
By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful
89
وَصَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى خَيْرِ خَلْقِهِ
waṣallallāhu `alā khayri khalqih
And may Allah bless the best of His creation
90
مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ أَجْمَعِينَ
muḥammadin wa ālihi ajma`īn
Muhammad and all his family
Prostrate and say [in Sajdah]
91
إِلٰهِيْ قَلْبِىْ مَحْجُوبٌ
ilāhī qalbī maḥjūb
My God, my heart is veiled
92
وَنَفْسِيْ مَعْيُوبٌ
wanafsī ma`yūb
And my soul is flawed
93
وَعَقْلِيْ مَغْلُوبٌ
wa`aqlī maghlūb
And my intellect is overcome
94
وَهَوَائِي غَالِبٌ
wahawā-ī ghālib
And my desires are dominant
95
وَطَاعَتِيْ قَلِيلٌ
waṭā`atī qalīl
And my obedience is little
96
وَمَعْصِيَتِيْ كَثِيرٌ
wama`ṣiyatī kathīr
And my disobedience is much
97
وَلِسَانِيْ مُقِرٌّ بِالذُّنُوبِ
walisānī muqirrun bidhhunūb
And my tongue confesses to sins
98
فَكَيْفَ حِيْلَتِيْ
fakayfa ḥīlatī
So what is my solution?
99
يَا سَتَّارَ الْعُيُوبِ
yā sattāral `uyūb
O Concealer of faults
100
وَيَا عَلَّامَ الْغُيُوبِ
wayā `allāmal ghuyūb
O Knower of the unseen
101
وَيَا كَاشِفَ الْكُرُوبِ
wayā kāshifal kurūb
O Remover of afflictions
102
اِغْفِرْ ذُنُوبِىْ كُلَّهَا بِحُرْمَةِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
ighfir dhunūbī kullahā biḥur-mati muḥammadin wa āli muḥammad
Forgive all my sins by the sanctity of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad
103
يَا غَفَّارُ يَا غَفَّارُ يَا غَفَّارُ
yā ghaffāru yā ghaffāru yā ghaffār
O All-Forgiving, O All-Forgiving, O All-Forgiving
104
بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
biraḥmatika yā ar-ḥamar rāḥimīn
By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful
